Analysis of ''Holes''

Hi, eveyone! I've finished the book. Finally I will be able to finish my homework. Homeworks are usually to revise what you learned, but this time I learned something that I can't learn at school enjoyable. (e.d. I learned how to prepare a blog site) Maybe, I can continue to write my blog after this homework.

If we come back to our theme, I will end my school assignment with an analysis of the book ''Holes''.

The first thing I want to write about the book is that the plot is very well chosen. To be sent to a camp as a punishment for a crime that he didn't commit is not a usual event, but it's not impossible, too.

Secondly, I want to say Louis Sachar is a very successful author. He plans the connection between the characters very well. This makes the book fascinating. And it makes you always suppose what to be next, but usually you are given a surprise. So the book is unpredictable. For example, if Stanley's great-grandfather hadn't been robbed, Stanley couldn't know God's Thumb and where to go after running away from Camp Green Lake.

Thirdly, the flashbacks make the book more funny. They prevent the reader from getting bored.
Another advantage of flashbacks is that they strengthen the structure of the book.

Another important special feature of the book is that the book always teaches you something without you letting you get bored. For example it teaches you how our decisions could change our and other people's lives. Besides, by telling Sam's story it teaches there was racism in the USA but now there is not. There are some other examples but I don't want to make my blog boring, either.
In conclusion, I think ''Holes'' seems first like a children's book. But it is a good novel and there are many things that we can learn from it.

5 Main Topics:
1.) Importance of history in everyday life
2.) Friendship
3.) The Destructive Nature of Cruelty
4.) You can change your destiny
5.) Be in the right place at right time

Prediction 2

In one morning Stanley will find a treasure map, while he is picking onions. The treasure map was buried by Kate Barlow, because she wanted the treasure to be found by man or woman, who ate from Sam's onions. Then they will be sure that the treasure is buried in the hole, in which Stanley found the golden tube. Afterwards they will make plan.

According to this plan:

''First they will go in Camp Green Lake, while every one is asleep. Then secretly they will get in the Warden's container and threaten her to kill her with her venom. And they will tie up her.

Secondly by using her telephone they will call Stanley's parents and tell the whole story about the Kissin' Kate Barlow, the treasure and what they were forced to do in Camp Green Lake for what.

Thirdly the police and Stanley's parent will come and ask about all things, that is being done in Camp Green Lake. And they will learn that Camp Green Lake doesn't have Zero's and some other one's files.

Finally Stanley and Zero will find the treasure, take it out and share it. The other children will be moved to another better camp or to a jail. And they will wait until their punishment is over.

Prediction-1

Hello, everyone! I'm back again. I've finished 120 pages of the book. Till here the book was very fascinating. And it was very funny to read the book. I think the author plays an important role in this. There is so many types of characters in the book, but there is not a logical problem between them. Because the connections between the characters are well formed.

Now, I want to write a prediction. I wish I would find what Louis Sachar thought. Till here Stanley has run away from Camp Green Lake. But what will he do now?

I think the first thing he will do is to go to God's
Thumb. When he will arrive, he will realize Zero had already gone there. And Zero will tell him he had found onions there.

I think God's Thumb is the place, where Sam had grown onions, before the lake got dry.

The place told on page 88 so:

''Sam's onion field was somewhere on the other side of the lake. One or twice a week he'd row across the lake and pick a new batch to fill the cart ...''

And Sam says about the onions:

''She (Mary Lou) eats nothing but raw onions.'' (Here it is meant that a human can survive with these raw onions.)

'' It nature's magic vegetable.''

When raw onions can grow in a field, there is in this water in this field certainly.
Stanley and Zero will decide to stay at God's Thumb for a few weeks...

Character Analysis of Zero

Hi, 10/D, now I will write about Zero!  I think he is one of the most interesting people in the book, ''Holes''.

Zero's real name is Hector Zeroni, but he has been called Zero for most of his life. He has been homeless for most of his life and his mother abandoned (or lost) him when he was still small. He is a tiny boy with curly hair. And he is the fastest digger in tent D.

At first he is presented as a strange character. He speaks not so much and smiles seldom. He doesn't like answering questions so people in the camp think he is stupid. Zero hasn't experienced much of an education so he doesn't know how to read or write. But Zero knows he is smart and good at Maths. Even Mr. Pendanski says to Stanley, while he is introducing Zero:

''You know why his name is Zero?''
''Because there is nothing inside his head.''

Without caring the people in the Camp Stanley teaches him to read and write. And Stanley realize that he is good at Maths. Zero has suffered so much hardship in his life that he eventually can't stand the mocking people anymore and he runs away from the Camp. (Before he runs away he gets revenge from Mr. Pendanski)

Then he becames the best friend of Stanley while they are surviving out of Camp Green Lake and finding the treasure of Kat Barlow. And he is one of the owners of the treasure.

By surviving he admits that he stole the sneakers, and apologized Stanley for stealing them because he is honest.

First Impressions

Hi, everyone! At first I want to say that this is my first blog. I think if there was not a school assignment, I wouldn't start to write a blog ever. But it can be funny.

I want to write my first impressions about the book ''Holes''. When I saw the book first, I thought this was a usual school assignment. And I was sure there isn't any ''hole'' in the book. I wished this time he book would be a good one.

''Holes'' starts with two ''introduction chapters''. Informations are given about the life at Camp Green Lake in these two chapters. For example. It is said:

''There is no lake at Camp Green Lake.''

Then, with third chapter of the book, the story of the Stanley Yelnats begins. Stanley Yelnats is the protogonist who has been sent by a court to Camp Green Lake for a crime that he didn't commit. In Camp Green Lake he must dig holes everyday. (for one day one hole.)

(He digs always the hardest one.)

He meets some interesting people at the Camp Green Lake. But first, they behave him not friendly. It seems like new adventures await me!

PS: When I first started the book I had the feeling that the emotions of people more real given than other books, which we had to read in holidays. I wish it would be like now after now on (till the end). And the story of great great grand father of Stanley makes the book funny.
